Not sure if I'm planning to take on a Full Distance IM in 2011 or not at this point.  My wife is interested, but I'd kind of like to know what others are planning on.  Unfortunatly, if you want to race in 2011, you have to pick the race and come up with a strategy for getting in now.

If you are planning on a Full IM for next year, let me know.  thanks

Silverman never fills up---you can decide about entering that one close to the date (first weekend in November) Wink)

I was considering something like Beach2Battleship or another non-WTC  race for my first one since you don't have to sign up a year in advance and the cost is significantly less. The later in the year, the better, that way the winter months can be used as recovery and there's no break in the summer racing schedule. Also thought about IM Florida or Cozumel for an IM event, but at the moment, I think I'm still pretty far away from being able to race one and it's going to take quite a bit more time to get there than I originally thought (my longest run so far is still the end of the 70.3 I did). Still though, I might do one just to finish, simply to get it out of the way.

I second the Silverman - great event.  I have done the half and am planning on the full this year.  It is HARD but a super event.

Close to home you have the Redman.
