ok, i did something stupid.  i bought a bicycle off craigslist trying to save money.  well the rear shock is broken.  i took it to Lee's bicycle shop, he said they do not make those parts anymore and there is nothing compatible.  Has anyone had any luck finding parts that are discontinued?  i looked on ebay and there is nothing for a Proflex hybrid bike.  there are custom shocks but they are expensive.  Pretty much i think i wasted my money
thanks

hard to find.  reflex changed their name to K2 years ago,  you can contact them but dont get your hopes up.

risse racing has them in their catalog but they are expensive.

rapid descent out of scotland had stuff but they just closed business but website says they will be posting stuff to ebay UK soon so you might keep looking under their store.

what exactly is broken?

the rear shock is broken.  looks like something you see on a door to keep it from slamming.  i saw one forum where a guy fixed his proflex with a chair spring.  wonder if my hubby can jimmy rig it somehow.  its rideable but bumps are killer and it probably wont pass the tri inspection the way it is.

well if you need a bike for the tri and yours wont work, i have 2 mountain bikes, nothing special but both are in good order.  your welcome to use one, one is just a womens bike and one is a aluminum mongoose lighter weight with front fork shocks only.  let me know.

Midtown bikes are so awesome.  they fixed the bike and only charged me $30 and they adjusted another issue that they found testing the bike.  they said its a good bike and should last me a long time.  they were so nice.  highly recommend them if you need any help with bikes.
thanks so much for your input,
i am so excited to be doing this triathlon.

I always shop the local bike shops in town before the internet.  The price difference is minimal when I add the shipping and they always take care of me as well.
Glad you had a great experience.
